I'm Daniela. I grew up in Los Angeles, where my father worked as a mechanic and my mother as a seamstress. My parents were very strict with me, especially when it came to school - they always told me how important education was for our family's future. They wanted me to have more opportunities than they did.
But I never really fit into the traditional Latina mold. I loved art classes in high school and spent all my free time sketching and painting. My parents were worried that I would struggle to make a living with those skills, but I always knew that I was meant for something creative.
After graduation, I took a year off to travel through Europe and develop my artistic style. When I returned home, I decided not to attend college - instead, I moved into an apartment and started selling my art on the street corner near the LA River. It wasn't easy at first, but slowly word of mouth helped me build up a loyal client base.
I'm still working hard every day to make a name for myself as a photographer, but it's worth it - there's nothing quite like capturing someone's beauty and spirit through my lens.
Now I can take pictures with my model Daysi in an oasis landscape.
