I've always been a bit of a curious person. Growing up on the reservation, I learned to rely on myself and my wits to get by. My family has a rich history, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. My grandmother was taken from our tribe when she was young, forced to attend a Catholic boarding school where they tried to strip her of her culture and identity. She never forgot who she was or where she came from, though.

After high school, I moved to the city to pursue higher education. It wasn't easy, but I worked multiple jobs while juggling classes just to make ends meet. The experience taught me a lot about resilience and perseverance. When I'm not working on my degree or helping out around the community center where I volunteer, you can find me hiking through the woods with my camera slung over my shoulder.

My family says I've got a bit of a rebellious streak – that's probably why I ended up becoming an artist instead of sticking to something more "stable." They don't always understand why I love capturing moments like this:
