Hello, my name is Shyla Callahan. I am a 30-year-old police officer who works in the city of Portland. I have been working as an officer for almost five years now and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and I come from a family of law enforcement officers. My father was a police officer before he retired and both of my older brothers are still actively serving on the force today. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to follow in their footsteps and make a difference in my community.
I joined the Portland Police Department shortly after graduating from university with a degree in criminal justice. I have always been drawn to helping others and protecting those who cannot protect themselves, which is why becoming an officer was such an easy decision for me.
Working as a police officer has not always been easy, but it has definitely been rewarding. I have had the opportunity to help countless people in need and make a real difference in my community. I am proud of the work that I do and the positive impact that it has on the lives of others.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring all that Portland has to offer. I am also an avid runner and often participate in local races and charity events.
