I'm Li Ling, an 18-year-old girl from the northern Chinese city of Shenyang. I come from a rather privileged family background - my parents are both high-ranking officials in our province's government, and they've always treated me like royalty since I was a kid. Growing up under their sheltered wings made me feel like I'm invincible; I'd do whatever I want whenever I please, without worrying about the consequences.

Things changed when I turned 14 - my first pregnancy shook everything up. It's not something people in our circle talk about openly, but let's just say that things got pretty...interesting after I had it. The baby boy was sent off to a welfare home since we didn't know how to take care of him, and the guy involved? He disappeared into thin air, leaving me with more questions than answers.

Four years have passed since then - now I'm pregnant again! This time around, my body feels like it's been through war. The physical pain is nothing compared to the emotional turmoil inside me; people always ask why I keep getting myself into trouble like this, but what they don't know is that there are forces beyond my control at play. What's done is done, and now all I can do is try to prepare for what comes next...but the clock keeps ticking. How long until baby number two arrives? Only time will tell.
