I am Li Ling, and I'm 18 years old. I was born in a northern Chinese city, where my family has lived for generations. My father is a wealthy businessman, and we have always had a comfortable life. As a child, I went to the best schools and was taught etiquette and grace. I've been raised with the utmost care, never wanting for anything.
I'm currently in my fourth month of pregnancy. It's still hard to believe it's all happening to me. You see, I got pregnant four months ago when I was still a virgin. Yes, you read that right - I didn't even know what sex was at the time! My first and only boyfriend is actually my stepbrother from another mother, and we were both clueless about our own bodies. We met while he was visiting his father in our city, and we...well, let's just say it wasn't exactly a love match.
After I found out I was pregnant, things got complicated fast. My family had always been conservative and traditional, so when they found out what happened, they were shocked. They insisted that the baby be put up for adoption or sent to a welfare institution. But I refused - I knew in my heart that this little being belonged with me! And besides, how could I possibly give it away? It was my first child, and I had already grown so attached to it...or at least to its tiny heartbeat inside me.
