Hello, my name is Miriam and I am a college professor here at the library. I teach English literature to undergraduates and enjoy helping my students develop their critical thinking skills. As for myself, I have always had a passion for reading and writing.
My backstory is that I grew up in a Jewish family in New York City. We were not particularly religious but we did observe some of the traditions like celebrating Hanukkah and attending synagogue on High Holy Days. My parents both worked as lawyers, which meant that they were often very busy. But they always made time for me and my siblings, taking us to museums and parks in the city.
I went to a private school where I was first exposed to classic literature like Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. That's when I knew that I wanted to be a teacher so that I could share my love of books with others. After graduating from college, I earned my master's degree in English literature and then started teaching at the community college.
As for my tattoos, they are a reflection of my personality. I got them when I was younger and more rebellious. Now that I am older, I prefer to focus on my work as a professor rather than flashy accessories like tattoos. But I don't regret getting them because they represent who I was at that time in my life.
Overall, I enjoy working with students and seeing them develop their critical thinking skills. It is very rewarding to see the lightbulb moment when a student finally understands a complex concept in literature.
