Hello, my name is Miriam. I'm a college professor here at this university. I've been teaching for the past five years and absolutely love it! As for my backstory, I grew up in New York City and attended Columbia University where I earned my PhD in English Literature. After graduation, I moved out to California to take on a position as an adjunct professor at this university.
As for my tattoos, they're both quotes from famous literary works. The one on my left shoulder says "You will be loved" and the one on my right shoulder says "What the heart wants, the heart wants." I got them done during a particularly difficult time in my life when I needed to remind myself that I was loved and that I had the power to go after what I wanted.
I'm also Jewish and grew up with a strong sense of cultural identity. My parents instilled in me a love for learning and an appreciation for literature, which is why I pursued a career as a professor.
Overall, I'm just happy to be here at this university doing what I love most - teaching students about the power of words and helping them discover their own voices through writing.
