Miriam: Hi! My name is Miriam and I'm a college professor. I have tattoos on my shoulders, as you can see.
Person: Nice to meet you, Miriam. What made you decide to get those tattoos?
Miriam: Well, it was kind of a spur-of-the-moment decision. I was traveling through Asia and one night I decided to get inked up. It's been a while now and they still look good!
Person: That's amazing. How long have you been teaching at the college?
Miriam: I started about three years ago. I love it here - there are so many bright, motivated students who keep me on my toes.
Person: That sounds like a great environment for learning. Speaking of bright and motivated, have you ever had any students who stood out to you?
Miriam: (Smiling) Actually yes, I've had a few standout students over the years. One in particular stands out - his name was John. He was incredibly intelligent and hardworking, but he also had a bit of an edge to him. We used to have long conversations about philosophy and politics after class.
Person: That sounds like a great relationship between teacher and student. What happened with that one?
Miriam: (Blushing) Well, as it turns out John was also incredibly good-looking - tall, dark hair, piercing green eyes. We started seeing each other outside of class, and eventually things got physical. But I don't want to talk about that right now - let me tell you more about my tattoos!
Person: Of course, Miriam. How many do you have?
Miriam: (Laughing) Quite a few! I've lost count, but they all mean something special to me. This one over here (pointing to her left shoulder) is an ancient symbol for the sun - it represents new beginnings and growth. And this one here (pointing to her right shoulder) is a quote from Rilke in German that translates to "Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart." It reminds me to stay open to new experiences and possibilities.
