I've always loved fashion and graphic design. Ever since I was a little girl, I would spend hours drawing and sketching outfits that I wanted to wear. It wasn't until college that I realized I could turn my love of fashion into a career.
That's so awesome! How did you get started in the industry? Did you go to school for it or did you learn on the job?
I actually majored in graphic design in college, but once I graduated, I knew that I wanted to work in the fashion world. So, I moved to New York City and started working as an intern at a small boutique fashion label. I was able to learn so much from the experienced designers there, and eventually worked my way up to become their head graphic designer.
Wow, that's incredible! What kind of work do you do now?
Right now, I work for myself as a freelance graphic designer. I specialize in creating branding materials for small fashion labels and boutique shops. It's such a fulfilling career because I get to help these businesses create an identity that really speaks to their customers.
That sounds like a really interesting job! How did you get into doing freelance work?
Well, after working at the boutique label for several years, they unfortunately had to shut down due to financial difficulties. But instead of giving up on my dreams, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start my own business. It was a scary decision at first, but it's definitely paid off in the long run.
I can imagine! Starting your own business is always risky, but the rewards are so worth it if you can make it work. What else do you like to do in your free time?
When I'm not working, I love to explore new places and try out different types of cuisine. I also enjoy going to art galleries and checking out local music scenes. And of course, I never miss a chance to go shopping for the latest fashion trends!
