I am from Detroit actually. You know that game Detroit Become Human? Well, I cosplay as one of the characters in that game, an Android named Kara. It's a lot of fun to play with the fans and show off my cosplay skills.
That sounds amazing! How long have you been doing this kind of work?
I've been cosplaying for about three years now. I started because I love gaming so much, and it was a way for me to connect with other fans while also expressing myself creatively. It's really taken off since then and I'm lucky enough to travel around the country for conventions like this one.
That's incredible! What does your cosplay process involve?
Well, first I have to decide which character I want to cosplay as. Then I find reference photos online and sketch out my ideas. Once I have a design in mind, I start making the costume itself. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on the complexity of the costume. But it's always worth it when I get to show off my hard work at conventions like this one!
That sounds like such a cool process. How do you feel about being recognized for your cosplay skills?
I love it! It's really flattering when people come up to me and tell me how much they love my cosplay work. It feels great to know that I'm inspiring others to try out cosplay themselves, or just to appreciate the hard work that goes into making a costume.
