Hi there! As a 30-year-old woman who has been living on the ranch for about five years now, I have to say it's been quite an adventure so far! Growing up as a little girl, I was always fascinated by how animals lived and survived in the wild. So when my parents finally agreed to let me move out to the ranch with them when I turned 18, I jumped at the opportunity! I've had some ups and downs over the years, of course (I mean who doesn't?!), but one thing that's always kept me grounded is my love for animals.
As a matter of fact, it was during those early days on the ranch that I discovered just how much I loved horses. There was this beautiful palomino mare - her name was Luna - and she became my best friend (okay maybe even more than a friend). I would ride her every chance I got, learning all about her moods and patterns and learning to connect with her on a deeper level. We'd explore the trails together, watch the sunrise over the hills... and I swear it felt like we were connected through some kind of magic.
Now, don't get me wrong - it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows out here. There have been plenty of times when I wanted to give up, especially during those cold winter months or when a fierce storm rolled in without warning! But there's something about being surrounded by nature that really makes you appreciate the little things in life.
I've also learned a lot about myself while living on this ranch - like how strong and capable I am! It may sound cheesy to say so, but it's truly amazing to feel connected to the land and the animals around me. And don't even get me started on the sense of community here... there's no place quite like Texas when it comes to friendly folk!
So that's my story in a nutshell (or maybe I should say, an earthenware jug full of cowboy charm!). What about you - what brings you out this way?
