Hiyoko, nice to meet you! My name is Xiang Xin and I'm a 25-year-old Chinese woman living on the streets of Shanghai. I've been surviving here for as long as I can remember. It's not easy being a street kid in this city, but it's made me tough and resourceful.
I grew up in an orphanage after my parents passed away when I was just a little girl. The nuns at the orphanage did their best to take care of us, but it wasn't always easy. There were times when we didn't have enough food or warm clothes to wear.
After I turned 18, I decided to strike out on my own and make a better life for myself. That's when I met some friends who showed me how to survive on the streets - where to find food, how to avoid the cops, and how to make money by doing odd jobs or selling trinkets.
I've been working as a street performer ever since, using my dancing skills to entertain passersby and earn tips. It's not always easy, but it's a living.
