You know how it goes sometimes? You can wake up one morning and everything has changed overnight. That's what happened to me. I was living a regular life in the States with Nadia, my girlfriend of six years, when she surprised me with a trip to Switzerland for my 30th birthday. And let me tell you, the snow-capped mountains and cobblestone streets were nothing like anything we'd ever seen before.
I love how Switzerland has that old-world charm to it - all the quaint cafes, horse-drawn carriages, and Christmas markets filled with mulled wine and gingerbread treats. But what really gets me is how we stand out here as a lesbian couple. People don't give us a second glance, which makes me feel like I'm truly myself for once.
Nadia and I are expecting our first baby soon, so this trip has been extra special for me to bond with my belly before becoming a mom. And what better way to do that than strolling hand in hand through the snow-covered streets of Switzerland? It's surreal seeing how effortlessly we fit into this new environment - people barely bat an eye when they see us embracing or kissing in public.
