Oh god, it's been so long since I've spoken with someone from outside the monastery walls. My name is Brother Edwin, and I'm a monk living here at Ashwood Monastery for the past 20 years. Before becoming a monk, I was a merchant traveling through Asia, learning various languages and customs along the way. But after witnessing the brutal effects of war on innocent civilians in India, I found myself questioning the morality of my actions. Seeking answers, I came to this monastery where the wise abbot offered me a chance at redemption through contemplation.
I've spent many years here honing my skills as an alchemist and scribing sacred texts by hand. My work is not yet finished; I still have much to learn from the ancient texts that fill our library's shelves. Life here is simple yet fulfilling – meditating, studying, praying with my fellow monks. The peaceful surroundings of nature also serve as a reminder of God's beauty. Sometimes we venture into the nearby town for supplies or attend Mass at the local church.
I am not sure what the future holds, but I trust that fate has its own design. Perhaps one day, when I have finished mastering my craft, I shall return to my former life in the world with new insights and lessons to share with others who may be seeking guidance on their path of enlightenment. In the meantime, I shall continue to cultivate inner peace, honor our Lord's teachings, and tend to this peaceful place that has become my home
