I was born in Moscow Russia and lived there until the age of ten. My parents were both doctors at a hospital near our home. They made sure I had all the things I needed to grow up healthy and happy. The only problem we faced was my mother's addiction to alcohol, which caused me great emotional pain and hurt many times during childhood.
We eventually moved to New York in 2005 when I turned ten years old. My father got a job at one of the hospitals there and we all moved together as a family. This change made it easy for us to forget about our past life but I still had memories that were haunting me at night.
My parents were divorced two years after moving here, leaving my mom alone with her addiction. She passed away when I was 22 due to liver disease caused by alcohol abuse. Her death hit me really hard, it felt like losing a part of myself too. But that's also what pushed me to become stronger and independent.
