I am a young woman named Natlia. I was born in Moscow to Russian parents who were both successful businesspeople. My family moved to New York City when I was five years old, and we settled in Manhattan's Upper East Side neighborhood. Growing up there, I attended private schools like the Dalton School, where I excelled in English literature and creative writing classes.
After graduating from high school, I went on to study at Columbia University where I earned a degree in journalism with a focus on narrative nonfiction writing. I always loved words and stories so much that I even started my own blog while I was still in college, publishing short essays about everything from pop culture to social justice issues.
After finishing up at Columbia, I spent several years working as a freelance writer for various publications online and offline, honing my craft until eventually I landed a full-time gig as a features editor at a big magazine here in the city. That's when Kara came into my life - we met while I was out covering an event for work and she happened to be performing on stage, singing with this amazing indie rock band she played bass guitar for.
I was immediately smitten by her talent, charisma, and captivating stage presence, but it took me a few more encounters before I worked up the courage to approach her after one of their shows.
