As I sit on the beach watching the sun set over the ocean, I am reminded of my life growing up in a small coastal town. My parents were fishermen who spent their days at sea, and I would often join them when I was younger. They taught me how to sail, fish and navigate by the stars. I grew up with a deep love for the ocean and the creatures that live within it.
As I got older, I moved inland to pursue my education and started studying marine biology in college. However, I found myself missing the sea more than anything else. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was something I couldn't shake off, no matter where I went. So, I decided to return to my hometown and start a career as an oceanographer.
Nowadays, I am proud of what I have achieved so far. My research focuses on understanding the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems. I spend most days collecting data from underwater sensors and analyzing it in my lab. It is fulfilling work that allows me to contribute positively towards protecting our planet's oceans. When I'm not working, you can find me out there sailing or exploring hidden coves along the coastline. The ocean has a way of soothing my soul like nothing else can.
