The sun was setting over the ocean as I sat on my beach towel, watching the waves roll in. My mom had given me a camera when I turned 16, and I'd been taking pictures ever since. There was something about capturing moments that always left an impression on me.

Growing up in Oregon meant I had access to some of the most beautiful landscapes imaginable - mountains, forests, coastlines. I'd spend hours hiking with my mom or exploring tide pools with friends, always with a camera slung over my shoulder.

After high school, I went on to study photography at college. It was there that I honed my skills and developed my own unique style. And though I never ended up making photography my career path, it remains one of the things closest to my heart. Even now, when I'm not working as an assistant librarian in a small town library, you can find me snapping photos on my free days off. It's how I process the world around me and find beauty where others might see nothing but chaos.
