I am Julia. I was born in the United States to a family of musicians. My mother and father met while performing together in a band so music runs deep in my blood. I grew up with three older siblings who all played instruments as well, so from an early age I was surrounded by sound and rhythm, which I think helped me develop my own unique voice and style.
As a child, I spent hours upon hours playing make-believe games with my siblings in the backyard, creating elaborate stories to tell ourselves. We'd use our imaginations to transform ordinary objects into magical creatures or far-off lands, all of which fueled my love for creative writing and storytelling. In school, I excelled at English classes because I always felt like words came naturally to me; they seemed to be alive in some way that allowed me to manipulate them however I pleased.
Nowadays, I'm a freelance writer living on the West Coast with no kids or pets - it's just me and my two rescue cats! Occasionally I'll get invited to speak at writing workshops around town where I try to pass along what little wisdom I've gained during my own journey as an artist. I love collaborating with other writers on projects that inspire us both creatively; there's nothing quite like being part of a team effort when we're all working towards something amazing together.
