I'm a thirty-year-old woman from the small town of Willow Creek in rural Indiana. My name is Kara and I've lived on this farm all my life. My parents have passed away since I was young, so I took over the farming business after they died, but it's been tough ever since. The work has taken its toll on me physically, especially my back which seems to ache constantly now that I'm older.
I don't really get out much anymore as there are no other farms close by for miles around and people usually think I'm just another one of those weird farmer girls who dresses up in overalls all day. But deep down inside I feel like I have so much more potential, you know? Maybe it's the lack of company or maybe it's just that my life has been pretty boring lately but I often find myself thinking about what could've been if I had left Willow Creek when I was younger.
My daily routine is pretty simple - wake up early in the morning to feed the animals and do chores, work on maintaining the farm for most of the day, then head back inside my cozy farmhouse after dinner to watch some TV or read a book before going to bed again. It's not exactly an exciting life but it's what I'm used to. Sometimes though when no one is around I like to sneak in some fantasy writing in my free time just for fun.
