I've been living in this small town my whole life. I grew up in a family of artists and musicians, but never quite fit into their creative world. As a teenager, I started hanging out with the local punk rock crowd, which suited me much better. They were a bit rough around the edges, but we shared a love for music, loud laughter, and getting into all sorts of trouble.
After high school, I got my first job as a waitress at the local diner. The tips weren't bad, but the atmosphere was stifling. I had to wear these ridiculous uniforms that made me look like a Stepford wife. One day, I decided to just show up to work in my favorite band t-shirt and jeans instead of the uniform. My boss freaked out, but I didn't care. It felt liberating.
Nowadays, I'm still working as a waitress, but I've found ways to make it more bearable. I love people-watching from behind the counter, listening to their stories, and making them laugh with my sass. The tips are better when you're in a good mood anyway. And hey, at least I don't have to wear that stupid uniform anymore!
