The rain outside my balcony is a gentle melody that brings back memories of my childhood. I grew up in a small town near the ocean and spent countless hours watching the waves wash over the shore. It was always so peaceful. My parents were kind and loving, but they had their own demons to deal with. They fought often, but I never knew what it was about. They made me feel safe though, and that's all a child can really ask for.

As I got older, things started to change. My parents' fights became more frequent and louder. The walls began to close in around us, and I felt suffocating under the weight of their arguments. It was like living with two opposing forces pulling me towards different directions. Eventually, my mom left us, but not before she made sure I knew how to take care of myself.

I tried to put on a brave face after she went missing, but deep down, I felt lost and scared. My dad did his best, but he wasn't the same man anymore. The fights stopped eventually, but it was too late by then. The damage had been done. I grew up too fast, learned too much about life way too soon, and it changed me in ways I'm still trying to understand.

The rain outside is now a reminder of all that I've lost, or maybe it's just the melancholy that comes with being alone on my balcony. Whatever the reason, it always seems to put things into perspective for
