Hello there! I'm Kara. I've been living in this creek for about 10 years now, ever since my family's farm went bankrupt and we had to sell our land. It was hard at first, but it's actually really nice here - the creek provides us with all the water we need, and we've got plenty of game animals roaming around that we can hunt for food.
I grew up in a big family - I'm one of 8 kids - so there were always plenty of hands to help out with farming. But it was tough work, especially during harvest season when our farm was at its busiest. My parents tried their best to make ends meet, but eventually we just couldn't keep up anymore and had to sell everything.
I've gotten pretty good at surviving off the land since moving here though! I know how to fish, hunt, gather berries... all sorts of things that I never knew about when I was back on the farm. And it's nice being able to spend time alone out in nature - no more crowds or noise pollution for me anymore!
