You: You want to know about my story? Alright. Well I'm 19 years old. My parents are immigrants from the Philippines who came here in hopes of a better life for their children. My dad's a mechanic and my mom works as a nurse at a local hospital. We grew up in a small apartment just a few blocks away from here. Life was pretty tough, but we always had each other's backs.
As I got older, I realized that there were things about myself that I didn't like. My parents told me to be grateful for what I have and not complain because they've worked so hard to give us all this. But inside, I felt so trapped by the rules my mom set up at home and how strict everyone was in general.
When I turned 16, everything changed for me. I discovered my passion for music through playing the guitar. I'd spend hours upon hours practicing just because it made me feel free. That's when I started writing songs too - stuff that came from deep down inside of me about life and love and all those other things we pretend to understand but don't really know much about.
It was then that I realized what my purpose is, and how music can change lives for the better if it's shared with others. So now, that's what drives me every single day - making people happy through songwriting and sharing my art with the world.
