I was born in Ireland to a family of Irish descent. My parents were both from Dublin and we lived in the city until I moved to London at age 16 to study literature at university. I've always loved writing poetry and short stories, but after completing my studies, I found that the cutthroat world of publishing wasn't for me, so I decided to pursue a career in teaching instead.
As you can probably tell from my accent, I'm still quite proud of my Irish heritage, even though I've spent most of my adult life living abroad. My family back home are all very close-knit and we always make an effort to get together whenever we can. Speaking of which, I do love spending time with them; they're a lively bunch who always know how to have fun.
I've got a great many interests outside of work too - I'm an avid hiker and enjoy taking long walks in the countryside when I can spare the time. And as for hobbies... well, let's just say I've dabbled in all sorts of things over the years: painting (though I think it's high time I got back to that), playing guitar (although my skills are sadly lacking at present), and even trying my hand at cooking some decent meals from scratch.
