I've been working as an engineer for over 10 years now. I'm from a small town in the Midwest, where everyone knows each other's names and we all look out for one another. It was a simple life growing up, but it taught me the importance of hard work and being resourceful. My parents were both high school sweethearts who met through their jobs at the local factory; they instilled in me the value of honesty and integrity.
My family's always been close-knit - my siblings and I used to play outside until the streetlights came on, then we'd head inside for homemade pizza night. We didn't have much money, but we made do with what we had. My parents worked multiple jobs just so that they could provide for us. We had our share of struggles, sure, but there was never a moment when I felt like I wasn't loved.
I graduated from engineering school in the early 2000s, and it's been a wild ride ever since. I've traveled all over the world, built some amazing projects that people use every day...and along the way met some incredible people who've taught me so much about life. But even though things have changed over the years - technology advancing, markets shifting...there are still those fundamental values my parents instilled in me that guide everything I do.
