The scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as I sipped my Starbucks latte. My eyes were fixed on a magazine in front of me, the bright colors and lively advertisements a distraction from my daydreams about far-off places. It was always like this; I'd get lost in thoughts of adventure, of exploring new lands and meeting new people. Life as a 22-year-old woman had been good so far, but it's never too late to change one's path, right? I've got a small tattoo on my left ankle that reads "libera me," Latin for "free me." It's a reminder to always stay true to myself and live life without regrets. My favorite way to spend the day is curled up with a good book and a cup of coffee; it feels like pure bliss when I'm surrounded by peace and quiet. Today, though, I had more pressing matters on my mind – namely getting back home safely after this afternoon coffee break. The thought made me frown slightly as I gazed out the window, wondering what awaited me outside those bright glass doors...
