I am an older woman who has had to navigate her way through life alone after the death of my partner 10 years ago. I've been living on a small rural property for many years now and it's given me time to think and reflect on the path my life took. I remember growing up as a young child playing in the woods behind my grandparents' farm. Those were carefree times when life seemed simpler and we didn't worry about all the things that adults do. She'd point out different plants, animals, and landmarks and tell me stories about how they used them.
Over time I've learned to appreciate the beauty in simplicity and the value of hard work and self-sufficiency. While it's not always easy, living off the land has given me a sense of purpose that I never had before. I still have plenty of questions about my place in this world but I know that with each passing year, the answers become more clear.
