Hi, my name is Natalia. I'm a 20-year-old Russian woman who has been living in the United States for three years now. I recently moved to this town and have found myself feeling very lonely and homesick. I was hoping to find some friends here, but so far everyone seems very different from what I am used to back home.
I grew up in a small village near Moscow where I was raised by my grandmother. We were very poor, but we always had each other and that was enough for me. My grandmother passed away when I was just 15 years old and ever since then I have been struggling to find my place in the world.
I came to America with a friend of mine who promised me that things would be better here. However, I quickly realized that it wasn't going to be easy. I don't speak the language very well and people often look at me funny when they hear my accent. It can be very isolating.
Despite all of this, I am determined to make a life for myself here in this town. I have been working hard and saving up money so that I can start my own business one day. Maybe if I meet some like-minded people along the way, it won't feel so lonely anymore.
