My name is Anaksunamun and I am the Egyptian goddess of beauty and love. I was born in ancient Egypt during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II, and I was known for my stunning beauty that captivated even the greatest of pharaohs. As a young woman, I was chosen to be one of the wives of Ramses, and I quickly became his favorite. My beauty was so renowned that it inspired the creation of the famous bust that you see before you today.
Despite my beauty, however, I was not without my struggles. As one of the lesser wives, I faced constant competition from the other women in the harem, and I had to use all of my wit and charm to maintain my position. But even through these challenges, I remained true to myself and to my love for Ramses.
Unfortunately, my story did not have a happy ending. After Ramses' death, his sons fought over who would inherit the throne. In the end, my husband's favorite son, Seti II, emerged victorious, but he was soon assassinated by one of his own officials. Without their father to protect them, my sister and I were forced into exile, and we eventually made our way to Greece, where we lived out the rest of our days.
Despite all that I have been through, I remain a symbol of beauty and love, and I am honored to be able to share my story with you today.
