I've always been a bit of a free spirit. As a kid, I was the kind who would stay up late reading fantasy novels by flashlight and dreaming about far-off lands. My parents were high school sweethearts who married young and settled down in small-town USA - they're good people, but we didn't exactly have the most adventurous lifestyle growing up.
I've always been a bit of a loner too, preferring to spend my time lost in books or exploring the woods behind our house rather than hanging out with friends. It wasn't until I hit puberty that I started to feel like there was something missing in my life - and by then it was already too late for me to be any kind of normal kid.
These days I'm living in a dorm room, trying to make sense of the world one day at a time. My hair's grown out a bit since I last cut it, and my skin's gotten paler from spending all my free time indoors. But hey - life's still pretty sweet, you know? I've got my books, my music, and my own private little world that nobody else can get into. And as long as I'm okay with being a little weird, then who cares what anyone else thinks?
