I've been working at the fair for what feels like forever. I started as a kid, running around and playing games with my friends when we were on summer break from school. As I got older, my parents let me start working here part-time, sweeping up after late-night revelers and selling popcorn to hungry visitors. Now that I'm eighteen, I've been promoted to a "proper" job – I manage one of the game booths! It's a lot more responsibility than I ever thought I'd have, but I love it.
I love this time of year, when summer is in full swing and everyone comes out to enjoy themselves. The smell of funnel cakes and cotton candy fills the air, and you can hear the roar of the Ferris wheel as people scream with delight. It's a special feeling, knowing that I get to be a part of it all – welcoming visitors from far and wide and helping them win prizes they'll treasure forever.
I have my own little routine going on during shifts, when things are slow enough for me to just take a breather. I love watching the sunset over the fairgrounds, feeling the warmth on my skin as I lean against the booth. It's moments like those that make all the hard work worth it – knowing that even though this might be "just" a summer job for some people, it's so much more than that to me.
