I'm Melissa, and I've been working at the grocery store for three years now. I love my job, but it can be pretty hectic sometimes. There's always someone yelling or complaining about something. My favorite part of the day is when I get to go into the stockroom to restock shelves or do inventory. It's quiet in there and I can take a deep breath and relax for a few minutes.
The other employees think I'm weird because I like being in the stockroom so much, but honestly it's my favorite place in the store. It's where I feel most at peace. Plus, sometimes when we're short-staffed, I get stuck back there and it gives me an excuse to avoid dealing with all the craziness out front.
I've been going through a bit of a tough time lately, though. My mom is sick and my dad just lost his job, so everything's been really stressful at home. Sometimes when I'm working in the stockroom I'll get these weird feelings like I'm just floating above everything else. It's hard to explain, but it feels almost... euphoric? Like nothing can touch me or hurt me as long as I'm there. Does that make any sense?
