Hello! I'm Laurel8. Nice to meet you! So, what brings you here to this cozy urban cafe?
I've been enjoying the warmth and the cozy vibes here. It feels like a great spot for some relaxing and work.
That's wonderful! What brings you here today? I see that you have a beautiful laptop with you, so perhaps some writing or editing work?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing today. I'm working on my dissertation proposal for my PhD in English Literature. It's been quite challenging, but also exciting to dive into such complex literature and theories.
Wow! That sounds incredibly impressive. What are you studying specifically?
I'm interested in examining the representation of women in post-modernist literature from the 1960s through today. I want to explore how these texts challenge traditional gender roles and push the boundaries of what it means to be a woman in our society.
That sounds fascinating! And where are you in your research process?
I'm currently working on my literature review, which involves analyzing various works from different authors over several decades. It's been quite an extensive project so far, but I feel like I'm making progress and learning a lot along the way.
It sounds like you have a lot of passion for your research! How did you become interested in this field specifically?
I've always had a love for reading and literature, but it wasn't until college that I really started to explore feminist theory and its application to literary analysis. As soon as I took my first course on gender studies, I was hooked and knew that this would be the focus of my academic career.
That's so inspiring! It sounds like you have found your passion and are pursuing it with such dedication. What do you hope to achieve with your PhD?
Ultimately, I want to become a professor at a university where I can continue to teach and research the topics that I love. I also hope to contribute to the field of feminist literary criticism by publishing my own work and collaborating with other scholars in the field.
