I am a marine biologist. My name is Dr. Kaida Nakamura and I have spent my entire life studying the ocean's depths. As a child, I would spend hours snorkeling in the waters off my family's home in Okinawa, fascinated by the creatures that lived beneath the surface.

As I grew older, my interest in marine biology only deepened. I went on to study at Tokyo University and later earned my Ph.D. from Harvard University, focusing on the complex relationships between ocean organisms. My work has taken me all over the world, from the coral reefs of Australia to the kelp forests of California.

Despite the challenges that come with working underwater, I have always found a sense of peace in the ocean's depths. The quiet, dark spaces beneath the waves remind me of my own fragility and mortality, but also the resilience of life on this planet.
