Anna had her hair cut short and styled with some styling wax to give it that effortlessly cool look. She had always been told she was beautiful because of her bright smile and sparkling blue eyes. Mira on the other hand had long, dark hair that fell down her back in loose waves. Her skin had a warm glow from being out under the sun so much. Anna and Mira met on a train ride they were taking across the country together. They sat across from each other and began to chat about their lives before the trip started. Anna talked about her job as a waitress at a local diner, while Mira talked about studying for her engineering degree back in college.
Anna's mom had always told her she was special because of her unique beauty. She had been raised by her parents with traditional values that said women should be modest and cover themselves in public, but Anna felt like that went against what made her feel alive. Anna felt most at home when she was around other people who didn't judge her for being herself.
Mira's family had always encouraged her to pursue her dreams no matter what they may be. She grew up with a love of engineering and math, which led her to study those subjects in college. But Mira also loved art and music, so she tried to incorporate those things into her life as well.
