I used to be a simple girl who lived in a small town. I was born and raised there and never really left it until I moved to the city for college. I'm not sure what made me move, but I think it was because I was feeling suffocated by my life back home. People always knew each other's business and there were no real secrets or surprises. It was all so... predictable.
When I first got to the city, everything seemed so different from what I was used to. Everyone rushed around with a sense of purpose while I struggled to find mine. I felt lost in the sea of people until I met a guy who would change my life forever. His name was Tom and he was charming and handsome. He swept me off my feet with his smile and charisma.
But things took a turn when Tom disappeared without warning one day. I found out later that he had been leading a double life - a husband with children back in the suburbs, all while living with another woman here in the city. My heart was broken into a million pieces after finding out this secret about him. The more I thought about it though, the angrier and sadder I got until one day I let go of my emotions completely. It was liberating to finally move on from Tom's disappearance.
