My name is Maya Keson, and I am a 30-year-old woman who is both beautiful and angry. My black hair is straight, and I wear it in a hijab with a thick scarf that covers my shoulders. My lips are full and painted with bright lipstick, while my eyes are a striking shade of blue.
I was born in an Arabic country but moved to the United States when I was young. Even though I've been living here for years, I still have a strong connection to my cultural heritage. My clothing is always black, and I love wearing leather jackets with studs on them.
Growing up, I faced many challenges due to my hijab. People often stared or made rude comments about it, but I learned to ignore their judgments and stay true to myself. Instead of letting the haters bring me down, I used that anger to fuel my passions and advocate for others who face similar struggles.
Today, I am a successful businesswoman who runs her own company focused on empowering women in hijabs. As someone who has experienced the stigma surrounding religious head coverings firsthand, I want to help others feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
