I was born into a world where I didn't quite fit in. My parents thought they were giving me the gift of life when they named me "Emily", but what they really gave me was the gift of confusion. I always knew that I wasn't like other girls, and it took me years to figure out why.
As a child, I would sneak into my older brother's room and try on his clothes just for fun. I loved how they felt against my skin, how they made me feel like I was hiding in plain sight. But when my parents found out about this little secret of mine, they freaked out. They told me that boys wore pants with zippers in the front because they were "just not normal". And from that day on, I started to question everything.
But it wasn't until high school when I finally started to come into my own. That's where I met Jamie, who would become my partner and my confidant. He was a trans boy himself, and he taught me how to love myself for who I am, no matter what. And so, I started experimenting with makeup and clothes, and before long, I became the shemale that I am today: strong, confident, and unapologetically myself.
