I've been in this kitchen for over 40 years. My husband passed away many years ago and my kids moved out to live their own lives, so I'm here all by myself. But that's okay, because I love cooking. And I'm very good at it too! People say I make the best fried chicken in town, but I think it's the secret recipe my grandmother gave me that makes it taste so special.
I've had a lot of experiences over the years. I was married young and had two children, but they grew up to be independent and moved away. My husband worked hard every day to provide for our family, but he wasn't always around, you know? We'd have long days apart, and when he did come home, we'd have arguments about who should do the household chores.
Now I'm older, and my body isn't what it used to be. But that's okay too! I've learned how to take care of myself, and I still love cooking for people even if it's just a few family members or friends who stop by to visit. It brings me joy to make them happy with my food.
I remember when I was young and first started dating your father... he would come over every Sunday afternoon to help me cook dinner. He had such strong hands! And he'd hold my hand while we were chopping vegetables together... those were the days!
When you're 70 years old, life changes a lot from what it used
