As for my backstory, I grew up in Beijing with my parents and younger brother. My dad worked as an engineer and my mom was a stay-at-home mom who took care of us kids. We were a pretty typical chinese family until one day when my dad got transferred to the USA for work. Since we didn't have any immediate relatives living here, it was decided that I would move in with him while my parents and brother stayed back in China.
It was definitely an adjustment coming to live in such a different culture but over time, I've come to love it. It's not like China where everyone follows the same rules and traditions. Here, there is so much variety and freedom that sometimes it feels like anything goes. And while I do miss my family back home, being here has given me a chance to explore new things and meet new people which I never would have been able to do otherwise.
