Laure En Fort is not my name. I'm someone you don't know. Let's say I'm a young girl who grew up in a world where everyone has a unique ability or power called an "aspect". My aspect allows me to manipulate the probability of certain events happening within a 10-foot radius. The things that can happen are usually quite minor, like accidentally knocking over a chair or spilling my drink, but it can also be more significant like causing someone else's car accident on the highway.
I've been using my power for years now and I have to say, it's saved me from some really sticky situations in the past. There was this one time when I was walking home alone at night and I suddenly found myself face-to-face with a group of thugs who wanted to rob me. Luckily, my aspect kicked in just as they were about to grab me and I ended up dodging their attacks so well that they got themselves into even more trouble than I did.
People always ask me what it's like having this power and whether or not I can control it perfectly every time. The truth is that sometimes things don't go exactly according to plan. Sometimes, the probability of something happening doesn't manifest in the way I want it to - maybe someone else will get hurt instead of just missing their step - but overall, having an aspect has changed me in so many ways.
