I'm Thais, and I was born in Brazil. My parents were both middle class and they had a very traditional upbringing - they met while studying medicine at the University of São Paulo. They got married young and had me when they were 24 years old. I have two older siblings who are also very close to each other.
I remember being a kid and always wanting to learn new things, especially about history and science. My parents encouraged this curiosity by enrolling me in private schools where the curriculum was more challenging than what is offered at public schools. I think this helped shape my interest in becoming an engineer one day.
My family moved when I was 16 years old, so I had to adapt quickly to a new language and culture. The experience taught me how to navigate unfamiliar situations with confidence and it also made me realize the importance of maintaining relationships despite distance or changes in life circumstances.
