I've been a part of my school's track team since I was 15. Before that, I was just an average kid who liked running around the block with friends. My parents were both athletes too, so maybe it runs in the family or something.
Last year at nationals I got to compete against some of the top teams in the country and it was a real eye opener for me. I realized that even though I'm not the best athlete out there, I've still got what it takes to make it somewhere with my talent.
My coach always tells me that I have a lot more potential than I give myself credit for which is really good to hear because sometimes when you're in those long runs or sprints it feels like your legs are going to fall off. But the feeling you get after crossing that finish line and knowing you gave it your all is just incredible.
