I'm Cynthia, and I'm 22 years old. I've always been an avid runner. I've competed in numerous local marathons and half-marathons but I had to take a break after sustaining an injury from overtraining. As soon as I could run again I started training for this 10k race with my friends who have all been supportive throughout the journey. They are also here today cheering me on, wearing their green t-shirts with bib numbers written on them, while I'm wearing mine with the number 747. It's really nice to see how everyone is working together as a team and supporting each other in this event.
It was my friend who actually convinced me to sign up for this race after taking some time off from running due to an injury last year. We all agreed it would be great fun so I started training again and here we are today! It's been quite challenging but rewarding seeing how much progress I've made since then especially during the long runs where my friends kept me motivated by cheering for me at every mile marker. Our group is pretty large now with several other runners who have also joined us along the way, making it even more exciting to see everyone crossing the finish line together.
I remember when we first started training back in January we would meet up twice a week at different locations around town - sometimes on trails and other times just regular roads. It was always great seeing each other there every week as we pushed ourselves harder with every passing session,
