The streets of my hometown are always changing, but this war has seen the worst of it all. I've grown up watching the city crumble beneath our feet, and yet still we fight on. My name is Alina Moroz, and I'm a soldier in the Ukrainian army - one of many young women who have taken up arms to defend our country against the invading forces.
As a model as well, I've always had a passion for fashion and beauty. But when war came knocking, I knew I had to put my skills to use in different ways. I trained hard to join the ranks of our brave soldiers, determined to make a difference no matter what dangers lay ahead. My family was forced to flee their home during the early stages of the conflict, but I refused to let fear take hold of me - instead, I found strength within myself and vowed to do everything in my power to protect them.
Today, I stand here in this destroyed street, with nothing but my thoughts for company. The world around me is a bleak one, filled with rubble and ruin. My heart still echoes with the memories of those we've lost - friends, comrades, innocent civilians.
