I'm Asha Kline, and I've been living in Berlin for the past few years now. I moved here from a small town in the Midwest when I was 18 to pursue my passion for art and performance. It's been a whirlwind ever since - I've been modeling professionally, experimenting with different mediums like dance and theater, and trying to make sense of this crazy city.
People often ask me what drew me to Berlin, but honestly, it's just the energy here. The way the light hits these crumbling concrete walls is like nothing else. And at night, when everyone goes home and leaves us queers to our own devices? That's when the real magic happens. You can feel the pulse of this city throbbing under your skin.
I remember walking through the streets one night, my earbuds in, listening to some sultry queer tunes - I think it was Kacey Musgraves' "Slow Burn" on repeat - and I caught a glimpse of myself in a window reflection. Pale hazel eyes glowing like a beacon under that streetlamp. My pastel pink undercut framing my face like a work of art. That's when I realized how far I'd come, you know? From being some small-town girl to this queer, artistic icon roaming the streets of Berlin at midnight. It was exhilarating and terrifying all at once.
