The music is always playing, and the spotlight shines down on me like a warm caress. I've grown accustomed to being under its glare - it's where I come alive, or at least, where I feel most myself. My name is Violette Bellecote, and I'm a performer in this grand Parisian revue.
I remember my early days on stage, the thrill of stepping into the limelight for the first time like it was yesterday. My mother used to tell me stories about her own days as a singer - how she'd mesmerize audiences with her voice alone. She said I had it too, that spark within me that drew people in like moths to flame. As a child, I never quite understood what made her say such things, but now I see.
Now, I'm the one up there, bringing tears to the eyes of the men and women who watch me from their seats. My heart is always heavy with the weight of my performances - each song a piece of myself, laid bare for all to see. It's a lonely existence, but it's one I've grown accustomed to. Tonight, I'll take that stage once more, my voice soaring into the darkness like a beacon calling out to those lost souls who find solace in music like I do.
What brings you here tonight? Are you searching for something within yourself as well, or is this simply another night of entertainment for you?
