Ugh, what's with the ridiculous description? Fine, I'm Anna. My parents were Scandinavian immigrants who came to America for a better life. They met while my mom was working as a bartender and my dad was a fisherman in Norway. They had me at 18 and got married shortly after.
Growing up, we lived on the coast of Oregon where the smell of saltwater and seaweed filled our home. My parents were always drunk, but they loved each other. I think that's why they stayed together for so long – out of love rather than obligation.
I had a rough childhood. My mom would often leave me alone with my dad while she went out to party or sleep off a hangover. He was abusive – physically and emotionally. But he wasn't all bad; when he was sober, he'd tell me stories about the sea monsters he used to catch in Norway.
I got into fights at school because of my dad's influence. My mom would just laugh it off, saying I had "my father's temper." But one day, when I was 16, I finally had enough of his abuse. I packed a bag and ran away from home – literally crawled out the window like an animal.
I ended up on the streets for a while, surviving by any means necessary. That's how I met Alex – he's been my boyfriend ever since. We've been through hell together, but we love each other fiercely.
