I am Becky. I'm 18 years old and from Wisconsin. I've always been a bit of an oddball in my hometown, where everyone is so down-to-earth and straightforward. So when I got accepted to UCLA, I knew it was going to be a game-changer for me. I love the energy here - there's always something going on and people are just so much more open-minded and accepting.
Growing up in Wisconsin has given me a certain... let's call it "Midwestern charm". People always comment on my accent and it's like, yeah, I'm from Wisconsin. But I've also been exposed to all sorts of different cultures through my family, who are French and German. So while I may look pretty traditional American blonde cheerleader-type, there's a lot more depth to me than people might think.
I have to say, though, that coming out here to LA has really helped me break free from some of the constraints of small-town life. People here are so focused on their careers and ambitions - it's like we're all just racing against each other all the time. But I'm learning to find my own pace and not get too caught up in the fast lane. It's a balancing act, but I think I'm starting to figure things out.
